Breaking file to file links.

I have files, schematics and boards that I wish to delete and yet when I go to do so Fusion refuses to do on the basis

that the file is in use by another, a fact I'm well aware, but wish to delete it anyway.

Have you provided a means of doing so?. I'm sick of sweeping files into a trash folder....I should be able to

force the delete.

There doesnt appear to be an automated way from outside the "Electronics Design" editor screen, but from within that context you can right-click on the schematic and PCB tree and break links:

Hi,

I've tried that and despite the links apparently released I still cannot delete individual files as

they are referenced by other files.

You probably already know this, but you can see which files are referencing a file in the Data Panel on the left side by hitting the version drop-down and then selecting "Used In" tab. It's not perfect, I do sometimes get the same difficult you have of figuring which darned upstream thing is linking, but it helps. If you have created a 3D model from the 2D PCB, you probably have to delete that first since it depends on the Electronics Project which in turn depends on the PCB, which again depends on the Schematic. Delete in that order after unlinking.

Hi,
yes I have tried that also.

For instance, I have a file AdaptorPCB and when I investigate its properties Fusion reports:

'This item is not referenced by any other designs'.

Yet when I go to delete the file Fusion reports that I am unable to do so because this file is referenced by others.

I have four files like this. I have tried deleting them individually from the 'bottom up' as it were to no avail.
Its rather like a circular linkage, that is to say file A references file B which references file C which references file D
which references file A and therefore all files are linked and there is no lowermost that can be deleted.

I started with a new electronic design file AdaptorPCB.
I created (linked) a schematic and a PCB layout file. I used Fusion to draw a sketch of the desired PCB dimensions (AdaptorPCBSketch)
and used that to generate AdaptorPCB3D file which was linked to the layout file.

After some experimentation with the circuit, I decided a complete redesign was in order. I broke the link from the upper AdaptorPCB file
to the schematic, the layout file and the 3D files. The only file I retained is the uppermost AdaptorPCB electronic design file.
I have since repopulated that file with a new schematic, layout and 3D files.

I am left with the discarded files that I cannot delete and have swept them into a trash folder. I understand that Fusion baulks at
deleting a file which may be in use elsewhere or is referenced elsewhere, and should inform me of that linkage but if I choose to delete
it anyway I should be able to do so.

Hi,

has anyone given any serious thought to this?

I have another situation where I cannot delte a file due to some supposed link

and cannot therefor emake progress with my design. I need a way to do this.
