Associating off-board parts with schematic symbols

Anyone know how to associate an "off-board" component with the associated schematic in Fusion? For example, in an inverter design there is a large D.C. link capacitor. This can't go on the board with the switches - it's too big for one thing - it's actually mounted on a laminated bus bar (a mechanical component). However, the system needs to know this is actually an electrical component, and not just an object, and for reasons of completeness, I'd like it on the schematic.

Hi @sbcco,

I hope you're doing well. This is handled by making "EXTERNAL" components. These are components that have a schematic symbol but not footprint because it's an offboard component. These are easy to make.

1) In the library make a symbol
2) Make a component and add the symbol to it

3) In the component click the Attribute command and create an attribute called _EXTERNAL_ , it's value doesn't matter the name is what tells Fusion that this is an external component.

Let me know if you run into any problems.
