analog source setup value

I have a question regarding the value of the AC power setting item.

  1. What is the amplitude, which is different from the AC value entered above? Is it in [V] if nothing is specified? Or does it mean a multiplier value of the AC value?
  2. What does delay mean? If nothing is specified, is it in [s]?
  3. What phase does "Theta" value mean? What is the unit of [deg] or [rad] if none is specified?

I would appreciate it if you could provide me with the same or more details.
Thank you in advance.

Hello @Yahiro1994,

I hope you're doing well. The AC value is used only in AC analysis, iow, frequency analysis. It's value is in V. Normally you set it to 1 that way if you do a Bode plot it's very easy to see gain. The amplitude, delay, phase values are used when doing a transient simulation where you want to see the circuit behavior over time. Amplitude is that max value of the waveform, delay is how long to wait after the sim has started for the source to start output it's waveform .Phase is useful if it's important where along the source's cycle the waveform starts.

The ngspice manual covers these commands in detail and you can find more info here in section 4

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
