Fusion 360 Black on start and crashes

Every time I start up Fusion 360, it's a black screen and becomes unresponsive, and crashes. I have tried re-installing and restarting but it's not working.

After trying both methods, nothing seems to be working

Edit:
When I disable my display it works, but when I enable my display driver it doesn't work anymore (also when its disabled its stuck on the splash screen)

Hi @realseanlao

Thanks for trying the suggestions in the article. A few additional questions / suggestions.

  1. When did this start to happen?
  2. Please confirm the version of Fusion 360 that you’re running. While in Fusion 360, on the top-right corner of the screen click ? > About.
  3. Run the Fusion 360 Service utility to Rest Fusion. Here is a link to instructions on how to run the Service utility.
  4. Have you updated the video driver?
  5. Are all Windows updates installed?
  6. Restart your computer and then launch Fusion.
  7. To see if this issue has to do with the install. Try to run Fusion 360 from a browser (Chrome is preferred) by going to https://fusion.online.autodesk.com and sign in with your Autodesk Education ID (same email that you log into Fusion 360 with).

Keep us posted.

I think it has a problem with the installation because it seems to be okay while in the browser.
But after unistalling and reinstalling nothing seems to be working still.

Hi @realseanlao

Thanks for confirming that the Browser access works. This could still be a graphics issue. Were you able to try the other items in the list above? Do you have a graphics card and onboard graphics on your computer?

Thanks,

-Dan

Hi
I was able to access the Service utility but after resetting Fusion, nothing changed. I also checked my Windows update but everything seems up to date. I have a graphics card on my computer and a Ryzen 5 5600X which I don't believe has integrated graphics, and this started to happen around 3 days ago.

Hi @realseanlao

Let's go back to when you disabled the displayed graphics, this is the onboard graphics. And Fusion launched but then stuck on the splash screen. A few more suggestions.

  1. With the onboard display card disabled, try to running Fusion 360 as administrator. When launching Fusion 360, right-click on the Fusion 360 icon and from the menu click Run as administrator.
  2. Something could have changed with you antivirus. Ensure Fusion 360 is unblocked. Here is a link to an article about configuring antivirus to allow Fusion to run
  3. Here is a link to an article that has suggestions for the stuck splash screen.
  4. Try to rerun the Service Utility and run the Repair tool.

Keep us posted.

Hi,
I believe this is a graphical issue because everything seems OK after swapping to another computer, but disabling the graphics card appears to have no effect.

Hi @realseanlao

I wanted to confirm that you tried the variable option?

Add an Environment Variable:

  1. In the Windows Control Panel, search for "Environment Variables".
  2. Click "Edit the system environment variables".
  3. At the bottom of the System Properties dialog, click "Environment Variables...."
  4. Under "User variables for <user>", click "New".
  5. Enter "QT_OPENGL" within the Variable name.
  6. Enter "angle" within the Variable value.
  7. Restart Fusion 360.
  8. If the setting causes further issues, repeat steps 1-3.
  9. Edit the "QT_OPENGL" variable, entering "software" within the Variable value.
  10. Restart Fusion 360.
  11. Update Fusion 360 to latest available build.
  12. Delete the system environment variable created above.

Thanks,

-Dan
