Update notification - Lab Install - did not receive April Update

I usually get the update notification from Autodesk plus our IT guy is also on the list. I see the new update with new logo but we did not get notified.

do we need to do this again ?

Hi @SuncoastTechnicalCollege

Strange as the emails went out. Could the emails have been blocked? The emails come from: Autodesk Education autodesk@autodeskcommunications.com

Please re-add your contact information to this Form for getting notified about Fusion 360 Updates that should be installed on lab computers

I'll also be posting information about Fusion's updates to this forum.
Note: Fusion 360's next update is tentatively planned for the evening of Monday May 16 (USA).

Thanks,

-Dan

Hi @SuncoastTechnicalCollege

The emails are only sent for the major updates, because the file schema changed (March 28 was the last major update). No email is sent for the minor updates. I believe this is what you're seeing with the icon changes.

Thanks for clarification.  I did notice that the older version did not affect any files coming in.   It was just so noticeable when my desktop icon changed. I thought that we would have a problem.

Is there a really good way to have the IT dept use what is recommended for auto updates?   can you post that again.

In our school system we have 3 classes that are heavy users and we all need the latest updates. Most of the other schools in the county dont seem to request updates per my contact in IT dept.   I guess students are only doing work inside school.  many have converted from Solidworks and got used to only working in school.

Hi @SuncoastTechnicalCollege

I understand, the change of the icon and loading splash screen was a big change, but didn't change the file schema.

Here are the instructions about the auto-download script for Windows computers.

To ensure your lab version is consistent with the latest version available on students’ personal devices you now have the option to set up Auto-Downloads. Auto-Downloads for Fusion 360 automate the recurring 6-8 week update process. Learn more about the benefits of Auto-Downloads for Windows users and the set-up instructions here - see section 6 (page 14).

Let me know if this is what you're looking for.

Thanks,

-Dan
