Students accounts won't update verification

I have been teaching Autodesk products in my class for several years.  With the inclusion of Fusion 360, the online account verification system seems to be broken.  I have no availability to discuss my issues with Autodesk, apparently their education side, is not a focus for helping people as they don't have any way to communicate with the company, but they will allow me to access the community all I want.

I have signed up roughly 200 students, about 190 of them worked.  However for about 10 or so students, the account when logging in online says congratulations you can use Autodesk Fusion 360, it doesn't recognize this on the computer when opening up.  I have worked on about 20 of them some of them all I have to do is exit out of all browsers and fusion and all is good, it recognizes.  I have done the same thing with the last 10 to no avail.  It seems clear to me that the browser signup sees the account, but can't communicate with Fusion 360 for some reason.

I am now at a point that I cannot move forward with my lessons without proper access, but no matter how many times I have tried to contact Autodesk, I seem to get no response.

Can someone please tell me how I can get Autodesk to take educators that are helping establish Autodesk as their favorite company for 3D design.  I would hate to have to move all of my students to programs from their competitors, because Autodesk appears to not care about educating future engineering students with Autodesk products.

Hi @steven.craw I'm sorry you are running into some issues. I know Autodesk takes education extremely seriously and knows they are important. That is one of the reasons they provide all of their software to the education sector at no cost.

Once the verification process is complete, students and educators still need to access the license to activate it. Here are some steps for how to do that. If you continue to run into issues after these steps, please follow up here and we will do our best to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

Kevin

  1. Go to Autodesk Education site and sign in with your Autodesk credentials.
  2. On the Individual tab, on the Fusion 360 product card click "Get product".

  1. Click on "ACCESS".

  1. Launch Fusion 360 (if you're running Fusion from a browser, you can cancel the install).
  2. If the Education license does not appear on the top of Fusion's screen as shown in the following image, sign out and back into Fusion 360.

Thank you for your assistance Kevin.

This is the process I have used hundreds of times to get it to recognize.  This is where it tells them they have confirmed their account.  However when they log into Fusion 360, it still says expired and does not allow use of the data panel.  When they draw their own, or are using a single file, it can work, but we are moving into assemblies and it requires opening multiple files simultaneously through links, which I haven't figured out how to use without having an updated account.

In addition I have gone through the active trials, account settings as well as every tab available under account.  Some times it works, however there doesn't seem to be a consistent way that it works.  Some times I have given up and then the next day when the student logs in, it works like expected, other times nothing.  It won't transfer the fact that they have a confirmed educational account online to logging in directly into Fusion 360.

One more detail that I don't think I included.  If you go to account, even though it says your have been confirmed, underneath licenses it doesn't register there.  Once I see it there, then every time they have logged into Fusion 360, it works correctly.

I think I have found a solution to this problem.

It seems that if Fusion 360 is already installed, even though your students have entered everything Autodesk requires to create an account and the account says you are confirmed, sometimes it requires you to install Fusion 360 for it to recognize your account.

I hope this explanation helps people.

Hi @steven.craw

Thanks for adding your feedback. The installation of Fusion is not required. To acquire an education license of Fusion you must click on Get product from the Fusion card and then click Access. If Fusion is already installed, you can stop the installation. Here are the step to acquire a Fusion Education license.

  1. Create or renew your Autodesk Account and Education Profile in the Chrome browser - Incognito window in preferred.

Note: If you're renewing your Autodesk Education eligibility, you must also renew your Fusion Education license by following steps 3 - 7.

  2. Go to Autodesk Education site and sign in with your Autodesk credentials.
  3. On the Individual tab, on the Fusion 360 product card click "Get product".

Hi Dan thank you for reaching out.  Let me start with setting up an account is relatively easy.  Please note I have helped more than 1000 students set up Autodesk accounts.  The problem is I have roughly 10% or so of those students that even though the website says that they have confirmed accounts that will expire sometime in this calendar year (365 days after they were approved in the first place) they still do not have access to Fusion 360.  After logging into Fusion 360 it says in the upper right hand corner above the default position of the view cube that subscription required.  No matter how many times I have logged them out, reset the connection, etc., they still can't use it properly.

As I stated in the last message that if I do an install, even though Fusion is installed on the computers it normally fixes this.  However I had one student that it still hasn't updated their account even though it says he has one until August 2024.

This definitely is caused by a communication error somewhere that fixes itself most of the time but not always.  I have found no way to inform Autodesk, or if there is they have ignored at least 20 reviews from me but since I have no way to contact them directly who knows if someone actually read them.

You may pick up with the fact that I am extremely upset about not having a way to fix this without just keep trying to contact Autodesk.  I have been an Autodesk user since 1990 and the first version I ever used was AutoCAD V 2.6.  Yes I am very old.

The primary reason I am responding is even though the install worked for almost all of the ones that couldn't work easily, it has brought me to near 100% with my students.

If anyone can contact Autodesk for me and have them reach out I would greatly appreciated.  If anyone knows of ways to fix this that I haven't tried please reach out as I haven't solved it completely yet.

Thank you to all the people that have offered assistance.

Hi @steven.craw

Sorry that your having this issue. After confirming your eligibility for Autodesk Education software, you must acquire the desired licenses as described above (Get Product > ACCESS). If there are issues with individual students, please private message their email addresses.

Does this help.

I am encountering this same issue with my class, some students and now my own license.  I have done the steps to verify account eligibility and clicked the "Access" button online dozens of times this week and it has not worked.

I tried talking to the support chatbot but it went nowhere.  I asked to be transferred to an agent.  There is a support ticket started for my issue but no actual response yet.

I agree, it is very frustrating to have this problem, be given the same non-working "solution" over and over and have no way to communicate back that it didn't work.

Hi @brigid.burdock

Sorry that you're having this issue. We saw an issue this week where sometimes clicking on Get product > Access did not give you the Fusion license.

The team pushed a fixed for this issue. Please try the following and let us know if you now have success.

Thanks,

-Dan

  1. Go to Autodesk Education site and sign in with your Autodesk education credentials.
  2. On the Individual tab, on the Fusion product card, click "Get product".

The last student that I am currently aware of no has an approved account that shows on Fusion 360 as well.  We did have to run the install program in order for it to accept it but it now works.  Thank you to everyone that has been helpful and hopefully this forum post will benefit other educators having trouble with students accessing their approved accounts.

Thanks for your reply!  My license issue was fixed last night.  Crossing my fingers that student issues are resolved as well with the software push.
