Model Derivative API - OBJ

Using FORGE Model Derivative API to query geometrical attributes from REVIT files results in very large OBJ files; e.g. a 30-40MBs REVIT file transforms to a 1GBs OBJ file.

1. Is there any documentation on generating optimized OBJ files via FORGE Model Derivative API?

2. FORGE VIEWER seems to use SVF fileformats. Is SVF a recommended file format for custom made webGL viewers and is  there any documentation available on SVF?

1. There are no optimization parameters for OBJ translation. I'll pass your comment on the large OBJ file size as feedback to our engineering team, but I don't know whether the problem you're seeing is just the nature of OBJ files or whether we're not optimizing the meshes we generate very well.

2. SVF is specific to our viewer. Its human-readable (to an extent) because its just a bunch of JSON, PNGs etc., but it is not an industry standard and is not formally documented. If you're interested in WebGL in general, then I suggest you look at glTF, which is quickly gaining traction as a format for defining 3D scenes.

Cheers,
