Fusion Lab install vs Single-User Install Question

I was looking to uninstall Fusion 360 from teacher computer and then do a fresh lab reinstall.  When I look in program files or apps, I don't see Fusion 360.      In my home user I see the app.   Is there something wrong with the lab install or is that the way it works?

Hi @SuncoastTechnicalCollege

The Fusion 360 Lab install version does not register in "Program and Features". To uninstall you must use the command > Fusion 360 Admin Install.exe" --process uninstall See page 5 in the Advanced Lab Install Guide.

Is there a reason why you want to install the Lab install version? This version requires a script to be run to update? The single install will automatically update Fusion 360 single user install process and browser access

Hope this helps.

I was still having those Streamer.exe running and slow running. I am also getting recover files messages a lot. I was thinking maybe something is corrupt and do a clean install - couldn't hurt.  But was confused about the uninstall - thanks for clearing it up

what is the benefit of doing lab install in a school?   Is it because it can't be auto updated.

Maybe I should try home user and see if works.   I have my personal laptop and using the school guest wireless it was able to identify update needed and it updated

Hi @SuncoastTechnicalCollege

If you have Admin rights on your computer, I'd suggest uninstalling the Lab install version and install the Single -User version. Here are the main differences:

  • The Lab install method, installs Fusion 360 in All Programs. This allows any user on the computer to run Fusion 360. As mentioned, this version does not automatically update. As mentioned above, you can run a Auto-Downloads script for Windows users and the set-up instructions here - see section 6 (page 14).
  • The Single-User install method, installs Fusion 360 under the current profile and automatically updates.

Does this help?
