Dimension boxes (angle and length) for lines in sketch not visible hovering over lines...

Hello,

I am new to Fusion. When I start a simple sketch and draw some lines on it, for example to form a profile (same a closed polygon or face, correct?), I then hover over the individual segments but no dimensional information appear....I expected that by hovering or clicking on a particular side of that polygon for the dimension boxes to appear so I can edit the angle and length of the segment...but that does not happen. What am I missing?

Thank you!

Hi @scipionim. I'm not sure I'm following you all the way here.

When you draw an entity in Fusion, you add a dimension to that entity and that dimension tell that object how big it should be. You can add the dimension while you are creating it, or you can start the dimension command and add the dimension after the object has been created.

With no commands active, you can click on an entity and in the lower right of the screen, you will see a report of the size of that entity.

You can also use the measure command to measure the size of an object.

Did that clarify your issue?

Thanks,

Thank you Kellings. Sorry for not being perfectly clear.

When I start a sketch and use the Pen tool, I would expect the dimension line with the double arrow to show above each line I trace as well as the angle that that line makes. See below from a tutorial. Instead, I trace the line and don't see those two grey box that let me change the length and the angle...Why? What settings do I need to activate?

But I do see the line dimensions at the bottom right as you suggest....

Hi @scipionim

When you're using asketching tools like the Line tool, when you drag the cursor, the values for the length and angle of the line will show its current size. To add a parametric dimension while in the Line tool, type in a value. Then to define the angle, press the tab key (toggles between the cells) and type in a value. To place the line horizontally or of vertically, move the cursor until the line is previewed in the correct location and left click. When done drawing segments, press the Esc key.

To change the value of a parametric dimension, double-click on it and type in a new value and press enter.

If needed, you can use the dimension tool to add dimensions to geometry that was already placed.

Here are a couple of learning resources that may help.

Hope this helps.
