I read a handful of other post on this error but none seem to exactly match the problem I'm having my model.
I'm working on a sub-component (with it's own subcomponents) that I saved out of a larger project (planning to re-import as a linked component). I had to convert the 3D projections from the parent object this was saved out of to a DM feature, but there's no obvious indication that's the source of the bug.
The bug: While I can work on the main component (light housing/divider for automobile warning lenses) without an issue, when I turn to create sketches or anything in a sub component that's based on the main component, I get the "Failed to get owner occurrence transform" error. Each lens is a component. Working on the *middle lenses* component I needed to set up a sketch on the upper middle backplane. Usually I start with a new plane for the sketch. When I tried to create the plane on the face I got the aforementioned error. When I try to create a plane from one of the construction planes of the main component I get the same error. I managed to create "Middle_Lens_Back_Plane by figuring out the distance from that face surface to an origin plane, then making a plane off of that origin plane. Only THEN would creating a sketch on that new plane not give me the error above. The problem is I need to project some geometry into that sketch, and no matter how I try to do it, whether it be face, corner, point, body, or even include 3D projection, I get the same error and my sketch yellows out with nothing projected.
I might be able to kluge my way around all this, including just working on the object in the much larger assembly, but I'd rather not.
