Work flow for an assembly

My binding has 8 interlocking parts.

I created a new component for each part...to draw the part i created planes and sketches on the preceding parts which located them where the should be.

but this got confusing when changing the preceding parts.

I am looking for a better way...any suggestions.

I included two files my rear Try 3 v119....this is where I tend to end up using my method.

and my rear Try 4 v5.....starting out again.

Any suggestions will help a lot. I am limited to 10 editable files, and normally have 10 or more files that I use frequently....so creating lots of files is an inconvience but so is the way i am doing it now.

I am not exactly sure what guidance you are looking for or what you are unhappy with.

I would keep fillets out of sketches and even go through some length in this design to do that for the loft. In general there aren't fewer timeline features in this design, but much simpler sketches.

That means less time spent debugging complex sketches. It's not so much of a concern in this design, but as things get more complex it can make a significant difference.
