window selection and internal parts

So, I have an assy made up of bodies, and there are parts inside that are not visible from any angle of view. Even with this assy floating out "in space" without other interfering objects, I am unable to select ALL the parts in the assy that fall within the window. The internal parts are the ones left behind. Is there any method for allowing the selection of ALL parts, or is this a case of needing to assemble the parts a few at a time, make a sub-component, assemble a few more, etc., and finally get to a point where all parts are joined in stages?

My intent is to be able to move the entire assy (or collection of parts) at once, maintaining their relationships, using align, or point-to-point move.

This is what "select through" is for - it allows you to select things that are hidden by other model geometry:

Thanks, Jeff -- it's so easy to overlook the obvious.

Well, minor gremlin -- "Select All" didn't seem to pick up an imported part (McMaster shoulder screw). What should the correct treatment be for such parts to make them a willing participant?

would it be possible to post a screencast of what you are doing?  Turning on Select Through and window selecting around the whole model should include everything, as far as I know.  I don't think that imported parts are any different, but I'll try a few cases, just to be sure.

Here is a screencast showing that this does work in at least this case.

I inserted a McMaster bolt, and positioned it inside a block of solid material.  I added another instance, just for fun.

Then, I set the Select Through option, and did a window select of the entire model.  You can see that all the components are selected.  Then I did Move, changed to Component Move, and re-selected, and it seems to correctly select all three components.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Thanks for the feedback -- I think I have something involved with a joint setup that is having an effect on this particular issue, but it isn't a big deal right now. I just deleted this out-of-place item, as it isn't important to the conceptual design at the moment. I can't recall having created any sort of joint intentionally when I selected and imported the McM part, but it's been some months since I was working with that assy.
