Why does the BSP thread profile change position when editing a joint

I was trying to align two threaded components with a cylindical joint and noticed that as I attempted to align the inner and outer thread profiles, the outer thread profile changed automatically after I completed the edit.  This meant that the two thread profiles were no longer aligned. 

 

Is this bug or am I doing something wrong?

When you edit something a feature, the timeline may be rolling back to the point where the joint was created. This may cause the components to move. To resolve this issue, could you try the following?

 

1. Roll the History Marker in the Timeline to a point just before the Joint that you are editing

2. Use the Move (Component) command or align command to position the BSPP fitting to the desired position.

 

3. Once moved, use the capture position command to add this "snapshot" to the timeline.

Expected Result: Now when you edit the joint, the position of the fitting should be maintained.

Thank you for your quick response, I really appreciate it.

 

I will definitely try your instructions but I my problem was not related to the positioning of the component itself.  It was related to the thread profile changing between successive edits of the joint parameters.

 

I think I found the cause of this behavior. The angle of the joint was set to 180 degrees, so it looked like the component might have been jumping between the 0 degree and 180 degrees of rotation and hence the thread profile was also changing as would be expected.  When I set the angle of rotation to be 0 degrees the thread profile stablised when edits to the joint were made.

 

This looks like a bug to me, as I would expect the component rotation and thread profile to be stable if a rotation angle other than 0 degress is used.
