Why didn't the circles move?

I'm designing an L-shaped  support bracket out of steel tubing with a 45 degree bracing tube a certain distance (controlled by a user parameter) from the radiused bend. I sketched the centreline of the bracing tube and then sketched the profile of the brace on a construction plane halfway along that centreline. After extruding the profile to join the existing legs of the bracket everything was fine. But when I changed the user parameter that controlled the position of the brace, the profile (and the extrusion, of course) didn't move.

Why not?

Hey lemelman,

I suspect what's missing here are the proper constraints in the sketch. Try the video below for an orientation.

I defined a point at the mid-point of the brace centreline, and created the circular profiles of the brace with that point as the centre. When the brace centreline was moved the profiles stayed put.  That why I asked the question - why didn't they move too?

In your Sketch midway along the line, you've got to PROJECT>INTERSECT the line to get a purple point, and then make your circles Coincident restrained to that purple point.

Thank you, that solved it. I'd totally forgotten about project. It's a very powerful facility which didn't exist in my previous CAD program.
