When I import this part from Aspire, the curved lines are just hundreds of polylines instead of one spline. It doesn't show when I don't select them, but when I extrude it, that edge shows everyone of the points. The only solution I have been able to find is using the spline tool and individually selecting each point, which is very time consuming. Is there a more efficient way, or different way to export from aspire? Also, they aren't the nodes from aspire.

DXF curves are polygons.

Hi! That is not entirely true. DXF files can contain spline curves. The DXF outputting system dictates the curve type the given geometry is exported to. Currently, Fusion does not seem to an option to preserve spline curves.

Many thanks!

Can Aspire export SVG files? You will probably need to figure out scaling after import though.

Can you share the DXF from Aspire?

That is not true.  Here is a DX exported from Fusion that contains a spline, and is imported as a spline.  There may be some spline types that Fusion cannot import, but it is incorrect to say that Fusion does not support preserving spline curves.  In my experience, it is usually the export system which cannot handle splines, and instead approximates the curve as a polyline.  If you share the DXF file here, @keidrick , it would be easy enough to check what is in it.  I am willing to bet it is a polyline or even a series of line segments.

Also, if you do decide to try to sketch a new spline over any large set of points, DO NOT try to pick every point - that will not get desirable results.  For a curve like that one, you should be able to get very close with 3 points.

Hi,

I feel your pain, this is a common problem I run into and even happens with

AutoCAD. My advice here is to do what you suggested and redraw the curve

with a Spline. However - with splines you have a situation of "less is more".

If you try to connect up all of those points then you are asking for trouble. A

spline wants the least amount of points that still do the job in many cases.

The curve you have there needs about four spline points at most. You should

be able to adjust the spline point handles to exactly match the curve. A little

more work but not too much.

Here is the dxf file. The solution of exporting as an svg works, i just have to scale it up. Also I found I'm able to convert the spline to multiple arcs and that works as well.

When I import your DXF into Rhino I get a polycurve so I guess Aspire doesn't support splines in it's DXF export. Rhino and Fusion can export and import splines so the problem is in the Aspire export.
