What's Wrong with this Picture?

The original picture is on the right and it is distorted as an imported canvas image. (This is a new file just for the test). 

And why are many imported images coming in oriented 90 degres counter clockwise? Would it not be better to have canvas images oriented properly when imported on a vertical canvas?

I think the rotation problem is just a bug. 

I have not seen the distortion before.  I'm going to have the team look in to that.

I did a test thinking that the problem had to do with the jpeg itself so I opened two images (that I knew were giving problems) in photoshop, added a small red dot and resaved as jpegs. Those imported into Fusion fine.

The screen shot shows the imported images. Two on the top are distorted and rotated... The two images below them are the same images resaved from photoshop, they imported correctly.

There was also a small issue where the OK button was dimmed when I imported the images onto the canvas. Clicking the middle mouse button undimmed the OK button.

I restarted Fusion and that problem is no longer there.

I found that if I saved the jpeg as a png, it imported without distortion.

The likely reason that works is because the conversion strips the image of metadata that is interpreted incorrectly by Fusion 360. I've reported this bug many years ago but don't expect that it get fixe any time soon!
