What's this type of "friction lock" called - and how to model?

Hi everyone,

 

Not sure what this type of detail is called, but imagine plastic pieces that meet end-to-end, and on the ends there's "ridged disk" molded into each piece so that when the pieces are pushed together (and held together with a rod or something that runs through them), this "ridged disk" helps prevent the pieces from rotating in relation to each other without applying a twisting force to them?

 

Next, if you happen to know what I'm describing... what might the best way to do this so that the diameter is about 1/2" ? Prototyping intent is plastic of some type...
