This is the hardware I am working with:
OS X 10.10.1
iMac 2008 GT 8800 512 MB VRAM
MacPro 2008 GTX 970 4 GB VRAM
I gave Fusion a pretty hard object to chocke on - a 33 MB Solidworks Audi TT GrabCad file.
Obviously between the iMac and my MacPro screen refresh when moving/rotating the view is slower on the iMac.
So here are my two observations and concerns:
1. Alias handels this heavy model dramatically faster than Fusion when it comes to screen refresh rate and also translating the surfaces (move rotate ...) (on my iMac).
2. Fusion itself needs an awefull long time to calculate to even open the move command - I am not sure what the software is doing for doing such a basic command like move)
EDIT: Before I started this text, on the Win MacPro I started the move command by dragging over the model.
Just after finishing typing and fixing the text in this post the move command is finally ready to do something.
Starting the command is a time drag, when I click something (enter a number, change the pivot point) Fusion works
hard and freezes the UI.
3. The tool feeback lag is changing - for example on the MacPro starting the move command took much longer
than on the iMac, but then moving/ rotating the model was somewhat faster few times.
It seems to me that for smaller models the UI is fine - but this stress test somewhat showed that with a complex model
the UI and also - thats the concerning part - the modeling commands litterely lock-up Fusion for a longtime.
I would personally be fine if the model would be simplified to a bounding box tp speed up screen refresh, and I know with Fusion
in contrast to Alias you try to have more real time 3D shading tools, but the surfacing tools itself really should not be slowed down
so dramatically because it makes Fusion with such a model quite hard to use.
Here is a screencast showing Fusion vs. Alias

So I hope both problems could get some focus to make sure fancy effects are less important than fast UI and modeling tools.
