ViewCube disabled periodically

I have a recurring problem with the ViewCube becoming nonfunctional when building models. Quitting and restarting Fusion fixes it. The Orbit tool works as a substitute, but it's not as convenient. Is there a way to wake up the ViewCube without rebooting?

Hi rklopp,

Could you try switching on/off the ViewCube or resetting the layout? You can find those commands under File > View menu as below:

I did not have a chance to try your solution. I quit and restarted Fusion 360, which restored ViewCube function.

The Orbit alternative seems modal, and it is not obvious how to get out of it once in.

I tried the method you recommended.  And it didn't work. However, I re-started the Fusion and the ViewCube worked again. I have a mac.

I am currently having this problem too suspiciously after the last update. It only happened today, but twice already in 3 hours of working time period. Yes, restarting F360 solves the problem but it's not very convenient. Would love to hear a response on how to fix this issue.

Thankyou and best regards,

Do you use Fusion 360 in fullscreen? Do you have a retina display? Have you tried minimizing/maximize the window or entering/exiting full screen mode to see if it will help "wake" the vew cube?

If so could you try using the Open in Low Resolution option mentioned in the below help link?

I look forward to your reply. Let us know if you have any questions.

To answer your questions, yes I do use F360 in fullscreen and no, I'm working on a retina display. I have non tried minimizing/maximize window to "wake" the view cube.

Interestingly enough, it happened again once more that day and seems to fix its self after that. Probably just a minor bug after update? I don't really know.

My mistake, I meant I'm not working on a retina device.

Thanks for the update! That is good news! Looks like we got lucky! 🙂 Maybe a computer restart occurred and helped?

If the issue emerges again, let us know. It would be nice to know if any of the previous suggestions help.

Best,

I see this problem frequently on my Macbook Pro.  It seems to go away after a while, but is very disruptive.  Is this problem understood yet?

Thanks,

Same problem. The view cube gets disabled every 15 minutes or so. If i restart Revit, it remedies the problem for 15 minutes. Its pretty annoying having to save and close so often. Running Revit 17 on a macbook pro.

Hey Matt! Welcome to the Fusion Community!

Can you clarify your statements above?

Are you saying that you have Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Revit running on the same MBP? Is the viewcube becoming unresponsive in Revit or Fusion 360?

Autodesk Revit 2017 doesn't run natively on MacOS. Or at least the system requirements for Revit 2017 don't show that. They do show that you can run Revit in Parallels for Mac. Is that what you're doing?

Are you running Fusion 360 in Parallels as well? If so, parallels is unnecessary, Fusion 360 supports MacOS natively.

What happens when Revit and/or Parallels isn't open at all? Does the problem subside?

I don't have access to parallels at the moment, so thanks in advance for any insight you can share...

Also had this issue or something similar. Running Fusion 360 on a 5k iMac. The ViewCube disappeared from a workspace and needed to restart Fusion to get it back. Interestingly the view cube was still working fine in other design windows that were still up
