Using in a College Class

We are trying to use Fusion 360 as a pilot in one of our courses.
Students are loving the software however we are having issues
accessing parts from the classroom when students have created them off
campus. Additionally the instructor can not access shared drawings
within Fusion. We get an error message about needing to update on some
drawings but not others. We are about a 1/3 the way through this
segment and really struggling to find an answer. Please advise.

@Anonymous

Not sure if this is your problem but you have to make sure all the computers in the classroom are updated to the current version of Fusion.

If the students have a newer version on their home computers/laptops there will be issues.

@innovatenate can you provide some help here?

Hi @Anonymous,

I think @PhilProcarioJr hit the nail on the head. It sounds like the version the students are using, differ from the version that you are using. Can you please go into the About dialog located in the Help menu in the top-right corner of Fusion 360. What version number are you using on your computer that you cannot open the files? For instance, I am using the latest version which is 2.0.2685. Also, are these computers at the school personal computers or are they lab computers (if so do they use the lab installation version of Fusion).

Thanks,

I will check the version. The computers are lab computers. They most likely used the lab install version. When we unlock the computer Fusion is not recognizing a download for an update (I am sure that the version is not up to date).

Hi @Anonymous,

If they are using the lab installation version - automatic updates do not occur. The administrator would have to obtain the update via the education portal and update Fusion for all the lab computers. A technical document outlining these steps should have been sent out to the admin when they set up the education account. Let me know if you have further questions on this and I can send you the material I have on the lab install.

Thanks,
