URGENT: recent update corrupted file

I need to work on the latest version of my files; have to get design changes back to GPI Prototype tonight or tomorrow.  When I try to open the file, I get:

Could not open file: /Users/jwhite/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/LD9EJMTPG9KT/W.login/F/BB-lug_JamieGravel_disc_v2c v96.44be64e4-5191-4d88-a98d-24db62a907c4.f3d, Version Number: 173, Error message: Ok

And it does not open.  It was fine the last time I worked on it (last week).  Why can't I open it?

Here is the file:  http://a360.co/1GxecpZ

Attached system logs.

help!

Hey Jaimie, I can't find the post at the moment, but there was a bug that could lead to file corruption, with a fix that was rolled out a day or so ago, but unfortunately there is no way apparantly to recover a corrupted file, so need to view it in A360 to revert to a previous version that has not been corrupted.

Really hope you are able to do what you need to.

Hi Jesse, Thanks for the info.  None of the file corruption threads really have a fix.  A360 just shows a blank screen.  What is supposed to happen? -jamieScreenshot 2015-06-30 17.43.27.png

I've had that blank screen happen a lot, the way I fix it is to close that window (not the browser window) and then look for your model/project in the right side of the main A360 panel.  I'll get more detail in a sec.

Jamie,

Does it make any difference if you are opening the design from the Data Panel or from the A360 dashboard?

One other thought is to check the Work Offline option:

  1. From the named menu, select Work Offline
  2. Open the Data Panel to see all of the locally cached files
  3. Can you open the design from there?

I was able to download an F3D file from your public link; however, I get the same error message when I attempt to open it.

I am escalating this to the operations team for further investigation.

Thanks,

I can see it on the right but when I click "Open" the file is still corrupted. I was trying to find an older version but I can't seem to get to them. -jamie

I tried both Data Panel and A360 and get the corrupted error msg for both. I tried selecting work offline. I can see the file in the data panel when offline but when I open it it says corrupted. Feeling kind of sick. If I had known that there were this sorts of issues I would have kept a set of versions locally. -jmaie

Man really sorry to hear that.  A long shot but maybe if you are able to add me to the project I could try it ([email protected], in the datapanel, under people, can invite via email)

Hi Jamie,

I downloaded your file, and removed the problematic part from the file, and share the fixed file with the link http://a360.co/1GLlCCj

I'm not sure the problematic part is an key part or not. Could you check if this file works for you? If a key part is missing in my shared file, the better way would be recovering  from an old version.

Wow that's amazing, I'm downloading it now to try.

I love Fusion 360 too! 😉

Yep, Terry's code master fixed file looks good to me.  I also was able to log into your project Jamie, clicked on the BB-lug file (did not click on the Open, just the name), clicked on the clock andclick on the clock for the project and promoted I believe version 170 since it was showing a visible preview.  That promoted and current version is now version 175 I believe.  I then clicked the "launch in F360" I believe it's called (I needed to use Chrome to get it to properly launch into Fusion it appears), the little arrow to the right of the name.  That version is able to open now.

I truly wish you the best of luck Jamie, and look forward to hearing how you make out with it all, and if you have any more questions/issues we can look into.

Wow, thanks a lot! The repaired file looks good. Whew! You just saved me at least three days of work.

Just for my own edification, what was problematic with the original file? I don't want to repeat the error. Why was it still ok the last time I saved it? Did the corruption have anything to do with today's update, or was it a coincidence?

I think my relationship with Fusion 360 is love/hate.

Thanks a lot Jesse. Terry saved the day. Well, more like the week. You got farther in A360 than I did; I was never able to see versions, which really had me panicked. I only could see a blank screen. Possibly a problem with my browser? I can see versions for other files, so I was worried it was the file.

I now have several local backups. I'll start doing this regularly; maybe at the end of each day.

It's great the file works for you. The file corruption is due to a Fusion 360 issue which has been fixed last week in the quality update. related post is:
