Uploaded design shows as only lines

I have save a 3D design that I have created in Tinkercad and saved as both an STL and OBJ. When I upload it to Fusion using the Upload button in the File menu, It simply loads the design shown in either solely teal/sapphire blue or multicoloured for either file types, never as a solid body. I am transferring my design to Fusion so as to better develop it using the more advanced tools available, but predominantly for the function to create a 2D technical drawing for my design for further use in a project. When I attempt to select the option to create a 2D drawing from the design using the workplace menu, given that my design has not loaded as a solid body, I either get a blank drawing or an error message. How can I upload my design as a body?

Hi,

You must first convert the mesh body into a solid body.

When I select the Convert Mesh option, I get an error message stating,

Error: The operation failed.
Try adjusting the values or changing the input geometry.
Error: Cannot convert mesh body to solid or surface body. Use Generate Face Groups or Direct Edit to align face groups to geometric features on the mesh body.

How can I fix this? When I try the Generate Face Groups option, Fusion crashes.

Hi,

Without seeing your design it is a bit tricky to give you solid advice. What may be worthwhile for you is to do some of

the basic fusion tutorials and start again. I know you probably don't want to hear that but any time spend doing the

the fusion tutorials and self paced learning  will not be wasted if you really want to learn fusion and it is worth

learning.

The reason I suggest this is that while TinkerCAD is great, unless you spend a great deal of time it is unlikely that

the model you have is overly complex and you could probably whip up a new version in fusion quite quickly. This

would not only help you to learn fusion but also give you skills while you learn that would be transferable to any

fusion model.

Jumping straight in to fusion with modeling meshes is a bit of a steep learning curve. I think you would be better to use your TinkerCAD experience as a base to learn fusion. Once you know the basics, fusion is very powerful.

Cheers

Andrew
