Uploade STEP marked READ ONLY

I have a file sent to me by a friend.  I believe that it was created in SolidWorks and save as a STEP file.  When I upload it and import it into a New Design From File, it's marked "Read Only."  I can select surfaces, etc., but can do nothing with them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How about a screenshot, so we can see what you can see ?

If you've imported the design it will be a linked component, if you right click it in the browser you can select Break Link then it will behave like any other component. If you break the link any changes to the original external design will not modify the version in the design you imported it in to. If you want to keep it linked you have the option to right click and select Open to edit the external file, when you save and close you will be prompted to get the latest version.
