Hello,

I was having a few small issues with my Fusion 360 and I was thinking about doing a complete uninstall (wipe my system clean) and then reinstall. My question is since fusion 360
Is cloud based will I loose my data, cad files, and fusion preferences if I do a clean uninstall and then reinstall on my mac? My follow up question is how do I do a complete uninstall?

Thanks

Hi,

There will not have any data loss as part of the uninstall/reinstall workflow. Once you have the new install logging in to your account should give you access to your data. However, I will be interested to learn more about the issues that you are having that is forcing you to go the uninstall/reinstall route. There may be easy solutions based on the issues you are seeing that might not even require you to uninstall the product.

Hi

Here is the issue that I am having.
I after I created a drawing from my model I clicked back on my model tab only to find that the drawingtab went away. I tried to re-open the drawing file through my window drwop down menue but it only shows that the drawing file is still open. I cannot access the drawing file with out first closing the 3D model file. I also cannot click on the drawing tab to get back to the drawing file since it disapperaed. Any way I can fix this?

I tried relaunching F360 and even fully shutting down and restarting my computer. I am running F360 on Mountain Lion. Here are the steps that occur when I encounter this problem:
1) open fusion 3d file from c-panel
2) create drawing from component in file
3) click back on 3d file tab
.... Now the drawing tab goes away and I cannot access it. Also I just tried opening two different 3d files from the control panel and no tab showed up. I cannot click back and forth between two different open files. I hope this helps and that you can resolve the issue.
Thanks,
-S

Hi,

I could not reproduce this scenario on a ML OS. Would it be possible for you to send your contact details to raj.kumar.ilanchelian@autodesk.com? I can give you a call and be on a screen share to understand what could be happening. If that’s not possible can you record a video of the behavior?

Hello,

I am responding because I am in the same situation where I am about ready to uninstall/reinstall Fusion (and am unsure how to do this successively) because of problems I am having with the program.

Basically, the program crashes continuously (with and without report window) or freezes and I am unable to use it. Leading up to these issues the program was lagging and super slow. I am using a Mac OS.

It is extremely important that I am able to access my previous work. I see from your prior response that once I reinstall Fusion and I log into my account on autodesk.com I should be able to open these files in the new program. I read somewhere that I could export my files to my computer, and upon trying this the file is unable to open, and gives this message:

The document “Arc Digest 3D works.f3d” could not be opened. The file isn’t in the correct format.

The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thank you for your help!

Haley

If you log into your Hub's Dashboard, all the data that you'll find saved there is stored in cloud. This means you'll have access to this data if you sign into Fusion 360 from any computer.

Removing Fusion 360 will not impact your access to data since your data should be synced to the cloud. The Fusion Cleaner tool gives you the option to keep you locally cached files, so you may want to check this out too.

For the exported files, how exactly are you going about opening them? This solution article shows the various ways you could open an F3D file.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for your reply. I was able to successfully un/reinstall the program and it seems to be working well now.

I was only trying to export the files as a way to be able to access them later on, but now I realize this isn't necessary.

Thanks again,

Haley

Hi,

I recently had to pause (i.e. cancel subscription renewal) due to financing. I would still like to keep my data for when  I re-subscribe again. Could I please get confirmation that non of my data /files will be lost?

Many thanks,
Claudia
