Understanding ISO metric threads? Help please!

Hi, all.

I have a major problem understanding how ISO metric threads are supposed to work with Fusion 360 - or at all, for that matter. 😉

E.g.: A wikipedia table tells me that female M36 threads are cut to 31,67 mm diameter and male M36 to 31,09 mm.

However, Fusion 360, when faced with a 32 mm diameter hole, offers to model M32 threads. For M36 Fusion requires a 36 mm hole.

What am I not grasping here?

Bonus question: Is there a way to actually have the "appearance: knurled aluminium" modelled into a surface instead of merely drawn on?

In Fusion if you want a 36mm thread draw a 36mm hole, Fusion will resize to the correct sizes. If you try it with a modeled thread then check with the measure tool you should find all the sizes are correct. If you just use the cosmetic thread the hole will be resized to 31.97.

So for a hole or a shaft draw the OD of the size you want, you do have the option to override the default size grabbed from the model as well.
