UNC 3/8 inch thread regarding 3D Printing......

Hello All!

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, I'm working on project with my students where we are using 3/8 inch UNC thread in Fusion360.  My unique problem is we are printing out on a MakerBot Method 3D printer.  In my research I found that PLA material that we use shrinks .20 - .25.  I'm not sure how or if I can scale the area that is threaded.

Thanks!

Dan

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

The thread is supposed to be UNC 3/8 - 40.

Thanks!

Are there any unresolved issues highlighted in yellow in your Timeline?

Are all of your sketches fully defined?

Corrected file with explanation to follow in a few minutes.

There are three, and one of them has to do with the thread.

There is no such thing as a UNC 3/8 - 40 thread.

I think you meant a UNS 3/8-40 thread.

Examine the Attached file.

The last three features were used to cut additional clearance.

The two Press/Pull features to move the faces of the thread in a bit and the Extrude to cut the root a bit.

Beginners should (almost) never use Splines.  And if splines are used - only very very few points.

I created the thread as Cosmetic.

Added the Chamfer and Fillet and then edited the thread (Hole feature) and changed to Modeled.
