unable to select the center of a cylinder while creating a hole

Hi guys,

I am new to the Fusion 360 and I am currently following the Fusion 360 tutorial Autodesk posted on Youtube. During one video, he asked us to draw a circle (as shown in attachment 1) and then extrude it to form a new body. Then, he asked us to turn on the hole command and create a hold at the center of the new cylinder we just extruded. However, when I hover my cursor over the cylinder, the center of the cylinder did not appear and hence I have no where to snap onto.

Anyone has any insights on why this happen? I have tried closing Fusion 360 and redraw everything but still got the same result.

Your help is much much much appreciated!

Thx

Hi Jason,

If you select the face that you want the hole to be placed on after your start the hole command, you should then be able to drag the center of the hole to the center of the boss.

Is it possible that in the screencast image that you posted there is a sketch that is visable on that face?  If that is the case you can snap directly to the center of the circle shown in the sketch without following my first workflow.

Please let me know if you have any questions on this,

Daniel

Hi there!

Thank you for your reply! and sorry for not following up with this for this long...

Yes, I just tried turning on the sketch and I was able to snap onto the center of the sketch and create a hole at the center of the cylinder, but do you know why can't I snap onto the center of the cylinder without using the sketch?

Jason,

I did recently see the same thing that you are talking about. I used the refrence option in the Hole command to select the cylinder and then changed the diameter of the hole to be smaller. That was I knew for sure that the hole is in the center of the cylinder. I hope this helps.
