unable to select curves for offset

Hi,

I am unable to select the exterior curves (or any curve) for offset. Why is no selection possible? I have tried both loop select and single and mutliple curve with no results. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous, could you possibly share your model, and we can take a look at it?

Offhand, one possibility is that you are not editing the sketch that contains the curves you want to offset?  I see that you have 11 sketches in your design.

I'm sure we can figure it out...

Hello,

Sorry to hear your having problems.  Are you able to attach the file here for us to take a look at?  You can do this by opening the design, and going to the file menu.  Select the export option and save out the file as a .f3d.  The other way you can do this is by right mouse button of the design in your data panel and choose "share public link" and share the URL with me so that I can download the file.

Quickly looking at the design I see a lot of sketches, potentially what may be occuring is that the sketch your in doesn't have any of the sketch geometry in it.  You can always project this geometry in, but an easier way to go about it would be to edit the sketch with the geometry and then try to offset the geometry that way.  Without looking at the file I cannot be sure if this is the case, or if there is a bigger issue, but it may be something to look at.

Cheers,

You are probably right about not selecting the proper sketch. I'm still
learning and tend to make mistakes. Attached is the file but I have
probably made things worse, messing with extrude, trying to make a lip on
the edge (for sealing with the other half of the "box".

thanks,

I am having the same issue. I have two sketches. I go into edit mode on the one with the curves that I want to offset and I'm unable to select them.

In your case, moving the sketch articles off the sketch plane, converts the sketch2 a 3d sketch,

not many sketch tools work with 3d sketches.

Might help.....
