Unable to Save!!

I've had this problem semi regularly for several months. I think it might be because I sometimes leave F360 open for several days on my PC. I'm really stuck right now as I've made some final changes and need to save them so I can use the CNC machine I have scheduled for tonight.

Export to archive fails and the save as option is greyed out.

The message I get is:

Error: D:\Stage\BB15.6_0624_WIN\BB15.6\Protein\src\xirang\xirang\vfs\vfs.cpp(398)failed to locate the temp directory:
Error: D:\Stage\BB15.6_0624_WIN\BB15.6\Protein\src\xirang\xirang\vfs\vfs.cpp(398)failed to locate the temp directory:
Error: D:\Stage\BB15.6_0624_WIN\BB15.6\Protein\src\xirang\xirang\vfs\vfs.cpp(398)failed to locate the temp directory:

I have a D Drive but I don't see a Stage directory

Does anyone have any hints on how I can save my design??

Thanks,

George

P.S. I've attached my log files

Hey George, did you ever make that cool doll house you were working on?  Sorry to hear your saving problem, did you happen to try going into Offline Mode option in the upper right and save then?  I've heard in the past that can help some issues.

Good luck!

No, I haven't finished the doll house yet. I'm working on a couple of other projects which will enable to me to finish building my own CNC machine. I've only been on the local ShopBot now 3 times and am still getting the feel of things and learning from my mistakes (or at least I hope I am).

I have tried going off-line, disabling versions, and praying to the computer gods but so far I continue to get the same error.

P.S. I am able to open another instance of F360, create a test project and save it so it's not a system problem.

What happens when you right click on the top node of the browser and pick "save copy as"?

The project and progress it sounds like you're making is awesome.  If you can open another Fusion instance, can you access a previous, perhaps autosaved version (I'm sure you know to do this by clicking on the "i" beneath the project in the data panel and choosing Display all versions)?  Sure is a bummer though.

Yes, I can do that but it doesn't have today's changes. I'm trying to look at my operations with 2 windows open but this is a pain. I don't understand why they took away the option to point to a temp directory to use. If this truly is a problem where it can't locate a long directory path it created the other day (I didn't delete anything) then I could at least give it a new place to save.

Hi George,

I would like to ask you if you could send us a screen capture of your Material Preferences. It looks like a problem with default material.

Thank you a lot

Since I was heading to work on the ShopBot last night I had to re-create my model in a new window. I closed the original window which not allow me to save the file so this material preferences window may not apply anymore. This is not the 1st time this has happened to me, in fact many times when I am working in CAM and I perform a post process I get an error message that the default directory is not valid and I have to tell it to reset to defaults. Perhaps that problem is related to this problem but fortunately the cam error is self healing.

The next time this happens I'll try to capture the material preferences window in case it is different than this one.

Crap, I'm not sure if that would have worked or not but you're right, that's about the only thing I didn't try!

@Phil.E, were you able to provide a solution for this? I have the same problem which occurs whenever I leave a design open for an hour or so...

Cheers,

Ed

Unfortunately no. Save Copy As was a workaround. So far, you are the only two users I know of reporting this.

Can you describe further your actual problem? After an hour there should be an auto-save. In that case, you "cannot" save, the design is already saved. The save button would be grey.

Is this what is happening to you? Or some other behavior. Can you describe what you see, or any messages that Fusion gives yoU?

Thanks,
