Unable to Edit Rectangular pattern to add sketch object

Anonymous

After double clicking on rectangular pattern glyph, the editing window opens.

I am able to edit the parameters, but cannot add a line to the selected objects.

The drawing is attached. I just need to add the 4mm horizontal line from the origin to the start of the slot.

I have attached a screen capture. I have created the rectangular pattern.

I need to add the red line to the profile.

I am able to select the line, but when click OK on the edit, the line is not being added to the pattern

@Anonymous You can not modify the selection of an existing sketch pattern. Best practice for solid modeling is to only model one cutout then pattern the feature. So first extrude the rectangle then extrude cut the cutout then pattern the cutout. When you run the modeling pattern command leave it set to face selection but select the extrude cut from the timeline.

I will try it that way.

For me it seemed easier to work with the parameters as a sketch, and then extrude.

The edit pane allows changing quantity and spacing etc and selection of additional geometry is highlighted giving the impression that it will be added. Anyway, I was able to extrude by manually adding the line.

Fusion's sketch solver is not that efficient at the moment and you'll find it hard to work with if you make patterns too big. Working with solid modelers the best practice has always been keep sketches as simple as possible and pattern features. Same goes for fillets, add them as late as possible in the design and add as a modeling feature, in your case working on a flat part maybe not as important but for 3d parts fillets added too early in the design hit performance also cause problems with booleans and fillets later in the design.

Hello All,

Just jumping in to give some updates..

I am very happy to let you know that Edit Pattern for Sketch now allows the user to change the selections and all other options which were provided during creation. So, basically, you will now get all the options during editing the patterns in the sketch as well!

Thank you all for your inputs. Please give it a try and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Best Regards

Rohit Bapat
