Unable to combine a number of bodies together into one

Hello Everyone,

I am creating a small train model and I have created half the front. I was hoping to mirror it but am encountering issues. I was wondering if someone can help me with two issues I am facing with this model which are as follows:

  1. I have been unable to combine the four bodies together into one. I have tried adding material, export as a step file and import it back and little has worked. I need to do this to ensure the 3D printing company will be able to print this part.
  2. The other issue is that I am not able to add thickness to body5. This is an issue because the minimum thickness for this print is 1mm.

I have attached the file. Thank you all in advance for any ideas or help with respect this project.

Body5 is a surface body - not a solid body.

The geometry in general appears to be poor quality.

I recommend that you start over and turn on Capture Design History.

I recommend that you Attach your new file after each and every sketch and feature for diagnosis and modeling suggestions.

In your new attempt - model with symmetry about the Origin (your geometry is a long ways from the Origin.

Thank you @TheCADWhisperer for the suggestions. In future I will turn on Capture Design History. The original file was from Catia. I unstitched it and copied the surfaces that I needed to make the scaled down part that I had attached. I don't know how else to fix this issue? Also I was wondering if you have been successful with Turing body5 which is a surface to a solid body please?

@oharran6X46N

Who did the original model in Catia? Can you Attach the original file here?

The way to fix this is to start over from scratch - the geometry was not modeled using proper techniques.

Hi TheCADWhisperer,

Thank you for replying back. I would love to share the model with you but it's 105MB seize. Hence I was wondering if there is a way to share the file with you other than on this site? I have created a short video (link below) to help paint a clearer picture of what I am working on for the past 2 plus years.

Thank you in advance for your time and support.

Kind regards

Omar
