Tutorial

I am currently taking an Engineering design class and we constantly have these design problems that we have to work on. I have never used autodesk inventor before but for the past few weeks I have been and I have not the slightest idea as to how everything works. Where do I find tutorials on start to finish on certain pictures and designs that are to be done? I wish I could upload the photos but I can't even do that for some reason and I'm at my stress level. Can someone give any advice please?

Well I assumed they were both the same concept. I'm using Fusion but my professor uses inventor. I only use fusion because it showed that it was best for Mac I guess.

yes i do have an instructor. He doesnt understand fusion either only inventor. Im having issues sending him my work and even doing the work etc.

Hi @Anonymous,

As for now, Inventor and Fusion are not 100% best friends. If your instructor is using Inventor, then it's best you use Inventor as well.

You can export your model as *.ipt or other file formats that Inventor and Fusion can read, but when you import them, you will get them as Bodies. You won't get the sketches and everything else.

I greatly appreciate the information and help. Do you know if inventor can be downloaded properly for Mac. I was seeing where they were saying that fusion was for Mac but I am not too familiar with everything that is going on in this process.

Download here. Be sure to get all 3 Parts.

Install following these instructions.  (Well I see the document in that link is old, but the process is the same.  If you do a bit of searching you should find newer information on running Inventor on Mac. The Inventor Forum would be an excellent source of information.)

You will need to get your student Serial Number here.

I am surprised that your instructor did not cover all of this information.

I think I would move on this rather quickly - given that it has been 2 weeks since your initial post.

I imagine it must be quite difficult to keep up with the class schedule.

No, @Anonymous, Inventor is for Windows only.  Fusion runs on both Windows and Mac.  If you want to run on Mac, Fusion is the one for you!
