Trying to make core and cavity

Hi guys,

 

I'm trying to get core and cavity for a model in the fusion, but i don't know how to do for this model.

I've attached that model in this message, if someone knows how to get this job done means, kindly share it.

Hi,

 

You can create STEP models from Fusion and you can import STEP models to Fusion.

If you want to modify a STEP model you have imported into fusion then you will have

to turn it back into a fusion solid.

 

The usual method is to import the STEP as a Mesh; repair the mesh so that the model

is "watertight", and then convert to solid. The Tools to do this are in the Mesh Menus.

STEP usually is a solid (or sometimes surface) body, not a mesh body.

Do not confuse STEP with stl.

 

The file attached here by the OP is in fact a solid body.

Hello @atdemo2019 ,

 

I don’t have deep expertise in molding and casting, but based on what I’ve picked up from previous forum discussions, it seems that using Combine and Split operations is one common way to create a cavity.
However, I may be mistaken, so please take this with caution.

We can use the split body and use risers wherever its required.

hi @dsouzasujay , thanks for the reply. I've tried what you mentioned above, but i cant get the core & cavity with the parting line of the model.

Hi! It seems that the solid body does not pass the Draft Analysis. As a proof of concept, I simplified the geometry by deleting some detail faces. Then I applied Face Draft on the vertical faces. Now the body checks clean in Draft Analysis. Please take a look at the attached file and see if it works better.

HI @TheCADWhisperer , I think fusion is not good for core and cavity separation. There are lot of works to create core and cavity for the model . But in other CAD software I got the core cavity separation with less number of inputs compare to fusion.
