Trouble with loft shell and split

Hi all,

I have this design I'm working on that gave me a lot of trouble.

I have created surfaces using sketches and lofts, but when everything is stitched together either shell won't work, or if shell is working, split wont work.

Can you take a look at my design and gave me some guidelines how to see whats wrong and how to fix it.

I assume that problem is in tangency (or rather to say not having tangency) between top and bottom surfaces, but no matter how hard I'm moving splines and trying to have better smoothness I can't achieve tangency on splitting plane between top and bottom.

Here is link to my desing:

Hey Ben,

thanks for the video, but this doesn't solves problem.

Yes I can create Thicken the way you shown, but because surface geometry isn't good, later on when adding other feature to the model, features fails because bad geometry.

I have solved the problem, and here is short video that shows big difference when everything is smooth and tangent.

The problem was that my first surface loft wasn't tangent to the split plane.

Great job, I'm glad you figure this out.
In your situation, I would probably use the T-Spline tool to create this shape. But if you are happy with the results, that's all that matter.

Ben.
