Trouble Inserting SVG

Hi,

I have a simple svg that i wish to place within my current project and extrude into the surface area. However the logo does not want to load at all...

I have attached the SVG and the screenshot of the error. I have exported straight from AI.. so i dont know what the issue could be..

I am quite new to fusion 360

Hi @Anonymous, Sorry for the inconvenience of the issue. I confirmed that this is really a bug of Fusion. Before we fix the problem in code, a workaround for you is to use the attached svg in your design. It would be very appreciated if you can share a screenshot of the SVG options dialog in AI when you exporting the SVG file so that we could know how AI generates the file.

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks!

However I am still finding some issue with the design, it appears it has a line that is not connected but i have no idea where to find it, i have been searching for over 30min to close it.

I'm trying to extrude the letters only and the 'r' is not behaving correctly. Any chance how to correct this?

Oh and to help you, where are the svg options in illustrator, happy to help you out?

The 'r' works fine with me. I can't see clearly about the issue in your picture. Can you active the sketch environment (Edit Sketch from browser node) and put a screenshot again? If it's possible, can you share your design (you can just keep the logo curves and remove the body)?

If you save a file as SVG in Illustrator, it should pop up the SVG option dialog - it lets you choose the SVG version or other settings. If it doesn't show, please let me know the version number of your AI.

Thanks for your reply @yqliu !!

Sorry for the delay here I was on holidays.

Thanks for the SVG that was re processed. I am further having trouble exporting another SVG, i have attached the svg exporting details in a screenshot. Let me know what I need to change these to to make the SVG work within fusion. So frustrating haha

I have attached the SVG currently not exporting right..

I tried Illustrator CS3, CS5 and CS CC, but all showed different SVG options dialog than yours. I guess it's because you are working on Mac. I don't have a copy of illustrator on Mac now. But can you uncheck the "Minify" option in the dialog and see if Fusion can import the no-minify SVG?

Hi @yqliu

Thanks for  your response..

I tried your attempt at 'no minify' and the result is attached. Has anyone else had a similar problem, like me and figured out the correct settings on these forums?

If not what are the parameters you apply to the svg to appear on fusion.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Finally I found out that the option is a new feature of Illustrator CC. So far Fusion has a problem to import the optimized SVG. There are two ways to export SVG files in AI 19.2. You can "Save As" or "Export". To make your SVG work in Fusion, please use "Save As" command.

Please let me know if you still see any issues.

hi brad.walls92,

one other thing to try.  open your SVG in illustrator and for each art piece release all the compound paths,  this only causes confusion in the translation from AI to Fusion through SVG.

Here I released your compound paths, saved the SVG and inserted into Fusion and the results were as expected.

so a general rule for SVG into Fusion is:

no groups or compound paths

Hope this helps.
