Trouble getting a surface loft to form

I am trying to get a surface loft to form that would look like taking the pieces that I have designed and laying a wet blanket over them. Can get the arch to form (as you can see) but I can't get the curved section at the top of the arch to flow into it. I keep getting errors - different errors depending on the order that I select things. The most common errors are "rail does not intersect" and "rail is not smooth." As far as not being smooth, the sketch has a tangent constraint at the point that Fusion is highlighting. And as far as not intersecting, It was all extruded from the same sketch and I even tried stitching things together just to make sure it was all connected.

This is my first try at surface modeling and I am pulling my hair out! Can someone please tell me what stupid mistake I am making?

examine the area circled-

@laughingcreek last week Cut the hoop last, from a larger body,

edit his sketches to new dimensions, not an option?

if you are trying to get a surface with a lot of definition you will likely have to make distinct segments..  Those two errors are normally correct, check that the rail is one piece, and not 2 bodies stitched,

Semi circle to a quadrant, I can’t see a second Rail.  Will check file (thanks) later in the day.

If I close that area up like it is at the other end, that should make everything happy? Even the rail that is not "smooth" even though it has a tangential constraint?

I think I found what you were pointing at. All of the lines didn't come together to a point at that area. I tried to constrain everything so that nothing moved arbitrarily, but fusion seems to have a way of moving things on you when you make a change somewhere else.

I am still getting the error of the rail not being smooth. Do I need to redo the spline as one? I don't see how it can be much smoother with a tangential constraint.

I was able to get it to work with Patches,  I'm not sure if this meets the design intent but it seems to be the direction you were going.

I had to split some faces and sketch a spline connecting the base of the yolk and the horseshoe.   Also, you have a sliver face on the far side that was preventing the patch from forming

I could edit laughingcreek's solution, but that does not teach me to do the next project. I'm not just trying to get this done, but also learn how to do the next one without asking for help.

Yes. You knew what I was after. And I believe your solution will work. I'm going to try it on my file right now. Laughingcreek did point out (about the same time you were replying) that I had that strange little sliver. When a rail goes PAST a loft piece like that, why does it stop it from working? I understand that if a line stops short, it is not connected, but I would think it is MORE than connected if it goes past.

That was what I needed to do. I split it up a little differently than you did, but you had me on EXACTLY the track I needed. Thank you! And I found the sliver you were talking about... That happened early on, when I made one spline tangent to another in the first sketch. They were tangent, but overlapping a microscopic amount. I am learning a BUNCH doing all of this.
