I was happy to figure out how to create a tool path and carve 'deep letters' from a text sketch that was embossed onto a model. The problem is, I can't recreate it, and at this point I'm stuck. Approach is:
- Create a rectangle sketch
- Extrude it to match my exact stock size (for example, 246x30x12mm)
- Create a text sketch on the upper face plane
- Emboss the text -2mm. Looks great, ready to manufacture
- Go to Manufacture, create a setup with stock exact size of model (no add'l stock). I'm using generic 3-axis CNC w grbl post for my FoxAlien Masuter Pro - has worked fine on prior projects
- Now the fun begins. I had prior success using a 3D pocket clear to cut out the letters, with a SpeTool 0.5mm ballnose bit - the results were fantastic. So I select this tool, set the parameters. No problem.
- At this point, I'm stuck. No matter what geometry I select, I get either no toolpath or a trivial tool path that bores a hole or two in some of the letters, but doesn't follow the emboss contours. Frustrating thing is I have an earlier project from yesterday where this worked. I'm at wits end figuring out what is different between the two projects and could use some help
Files attached below - the TEST pocket Engrave works, the Breadboard emboss is the broken frustrating one.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
