Transform Appearance dialog (in Animation) doesn't list appearances

When I choose Transform Appearance in the Animation workspace the APPEARANCE dialog that pops up is supposed to list the appearances that are being used in the current design. It's empty, even though the list looks correct when I add an appearance in the Model workspace. See the screenshot attached.

Thanks Rob for the comments.

This is correct behavior according to our design. The appearance list is environment based. That means, In ANIMATION, we just list the appearances from animation and In MODEL, just populate the list from modeling.

For example, you can create a new f3d file with a box, In MODEL, apply a Paint-Metalic (Blue) material to the box, then go to ANIMATION to apply the Paint-Metalic (Red) material to the box. Save and close the document. Then reopen the file to check the appearance list in MODEL and ANIMATION environments. You will find Paint-Metalic (Blue) is listed for MODEL, and Paint-Metalic (Red) is listed for ANIMATION. They are not mixed.

Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense. I will say, however, that the logic thath the environments handle appearances independently doesn't exactly hold since Appearances applied in the model workspace do show up in the Animation workspace. eg: apply Blue Anodized appearance in the Model workspace, then switch to Animation workspace. Obviously the appearance is there in the Animation workspace, so I'd expect to see it in the list of currently used appearances.
