Tool offsets

Hi to every one. first time posting here.

I've been having troubles with the attached file. it's a simple guitar bodie that was created in corel draw, the customer wants an offset around the body but i haven't any succesful. I've been breaking my head and no luck.

I can't tell you why you can't offset the entire boundary of the guitar.  You can offset individual splines.

Another option is to extrude the body, then save it as an stl. Import the stl and use the sketch mesh tools to create a new outline. 

 

File is attached.  Note: There is a tiny difference between the mesh created boundary and the original at the straight lines.

Yes, working with imported sketch data (especially splines) from DXF or SVG is problematic, unless you plan to just consume it without modification.

 

@etfrench's approach of going through STL is interesting.  Hadn't thought of that before, but the mesh workspace's Fit Curves is very nice.  Another approach would be to try to just manually re-fit the curve using Fusion's spline command.
