Too bulky generative design

The generative design in Fusion 360 creates excessively heavy structures, even under light loads. Despite tweaking constraints and load conditions, the software still generates overly massive models. Reducing weight manually is challenging and often disrupts the design's integrity. I've tried all possible settings, but the problem remains unresolved.

Hi,

Without some screen shots or a sample design demonstrating your issue it is very

difficult for ANYONE, let alone the Devs to make improvements.

Too heavy - in what way? Compared to What? Does another software suite do it better?

How does that software suite do it better?

Under what loads? Grams, kilograms, tonnes? What loads are you typically using? Are

those loads reflective of reality?

What constraints are you "tweaking"? By how much? Are you sure that  what you

tweak are the correct constraints and load conditions? Have you cross checked the

Documentation in case you are not actually doing it correctly?

How are you reducing weight manually? In what area are you concentrating? What

are you expecting the AI to actually do and what does it actually do?

I understand frustration when you cannot get something to work. I understand that

some people need to vent. If you want some help then we need more to work with.

Cheers

Andrew

In addition to some of Andrew's comments, I would be curious what your volumetric ratio between starting envelope and final shape is. A less-than-well-known limitation of the solver is that there is a limit to the amount of volume it can remove. You may need to be using a starting shape with a large reduction to start with - either by shaping it or by intentionally punching holes in it.

Try using Automated Modeling to generate a starting shape to include in your generative studies.
