Tolerances font format when converting to PDF

Hi,

I'm trying to export a drawing to a PDF. I'm using Bahnschrift Light Semi Condensed in this example, although I have tried other fonts. As you can see, the tolerance operators kind of bleed into the dimension. Sometimes it's okay and sometimes it overlaps and you can't really read anything anymore. This only happens once converting to PDF.

Is there something I can do about it? I'd be fine with adding a space before the tolerance but so far, that hasn't worked.

Thanks,

Biggi

Hi @biggi_sonea

How are you viewing the PDF?

Different viewers and operating systems may give slightly different results, as they need to interpret the fonts too.

Hi,

I use Adobe Acrobat and I've used the viewer in Fusion Team using Microsoft Edge. I don't have another PDF Viewer (can't install anything on the work laptop) so I just tried importing it in Inkscape, once replacing the font with whatever Inkscape deemed closest and once just keeping the file. It always looks the same. What I've noticed is that it works well, if the dimension is just one digit, as soon as it is 2 or more, the shift is noticable.

I have also had this issue (in my case it's been Bahnschrift fonts like OP).

Here's what the drawing looks like in the Fusion environment:

and here's what happens when exported to PDF:

The condensed fonts seem to 'un-condense' on export. It may be an issue with that font in particular, as I've had problems trying to extrude that font into a surface as well. Some characters have some weird self-intersections that cause errors when extruding (which you can see if you explode the text - also shown is what happens if you extrude without exploding first)

I have to this point chalked it up to a wonky font and try to avoid the condensed files for use in drawings.
