Timeline - select all

If I have a very long timeline that spills over the length of the window, how do I select all features in that timeline?

i.e. select all to add to group.

Select the first feature, then scroll to the end using the scroll bar, hold down shift, and select the last feature.  Should select all the features in the timeline
