When in import a canvas I get the alert 

"The object that you are creating is not visible. Please toggle visibility in the browser."

There is no folder for the canvas on the left side. My only work around has been to start a new project, very annoying.

Happens if there were a canvass or two and the eyeball was off. 

If you Delete those canvasses the off setting is remembered if adding a new canvass.

 

Add the canvass, the folder will be created, then you can turn the eyeball back on.
