Hello,

I don't understand why I always have the message "The guide is not g1 between the first and last sections" when I try to select the rail for my loft operation.

I have checked and for me the line have a coincidence so I can't understand this error message. I have redraw my sketch multiple time to be sure but still have the same error message.

Hi,

there´s no need for loft.

revolve instead loft.gif

Create the profile of one side & use the "revolve" tool

The error means "not Tangent"  For Lofts rails need to be tangent,

for that shape, Revolve will do it.

Hello and thank you for both answers.

I have used your 360° revolve suggestion and it is indeed perfectly.

But just for my general understanding, for the tangent issue, I should have added a tangent constraint on each of your circle is that correct?

What is the difference between putting this constraint and the current situation because for me it looks joined no?

Regards and thank you for your help,

Wasn't speaking to the Revolve.

When Lofting shapes, Loft tool is finicky there are rules,

All rails must touch all profiles.

All rails must be tangent G1, or curvature G2 continuous.

That means the rail needs sketch fillets at sharp corners for your first attempt, I circled 3 connections that all have to become at least Tangent to each other.  Obviously that would change the design shape, but that Loft will never work until you fixed that.

All that means is that we can get that exact shape by using the Revolve instead.  Not always an easy fix.

Might help...
