The active component will switch itself

Hi,

I just wonder why the active component will change itself to another when choosing a face of existing body as a cosntruct plane for a new sketch? I just recorded a screencast about behavior. Something wrong with my work order?

It seems to me like you actually edit an existing sketch that happens to be under that component that Fusion switch to. (you can already see lines, constraints, dimensions etc.) Try to turn off visibilty for that sketch, or maybe bring up the multi-select window (click and hold left mouse-button) to select face instead of sketch when you start the sketch command.

Yes I actually know it, that Fusion goes somehow to edit mode (I haven't chosen any edit command). And yes, that right mouse button selection method is well known. But I feel, that Fusion shouldn't act like that, that kind behavior isn't desirable in everyday routine sketching...

That's totally different matter, if Fusion has designed to act like that; I myself don't prefer that kind process. Any Autodesk people's comment?

Hi all,

@catot is correct. When a sketch tool is selected, clicking on an existing sketch will enter "Edit" mode. If you would like to create a new sketch on a plane that has an existing sketch, the best way to do so is to use the "Create Sketch" tool, and then select the plane. This will keep you in the active component and will ensure you create a new sketch instead of editing an existing sketch.

Best,

Once I figured out that's what it was doing I actually like it setup this way. But that's just my opinion.

Ok. Probably there is a certain advantages of this kind work order. I don't like this kind method, but as said, we all work a little bit different way and see things differently.
