How do I create text on a curve?

Unfortunately, there is no good way to do this today.  You would have to position each letter independently, which would be tedious.

I'm not familiar with Fusion 360 but can you import (e.g. by DXFIN) the text from an Autocad .dwg?

@tmccar:  Yes, you can import a DXF.  This is an import operation (it will create a new Fusion design from the DXF, with one sketch per AutoCAD layer).  You can then insert this Fusion design into your main design.  You can also insert an SVG design into a sketch, which is another way to get text along a curved path into Fusion.

@Anonymous:  "the future" is a long time .  Yes, it is something that we hope to support at some time.  Unfortunately, it is not on the immediate roadmap - too many other high-priority things to do.

Best bet is to use Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw to make your curved text then outline the text getting rid of the fonts. Then save as or export an SVG. You can get a free trial of Corel and maybe even Illustrator if this is a one time thing.

If you can import a DXF, can you generate the text in Autocad using "ARCTEXT" and export it as DXF?

Hi, as guys above mentioned, use vector graphic program to create curved text and import it as SVG.

I actually just did this yesterday. I had to make the shift pattern for this shift knob. I did it in illustrator and saved as SVG. Imported and resized/extruded.

I'm curious why this thread was marked as solved?  I started the thread, but I did not mark it solved.  Who else can mark mark my threads as solved?

I don't think using a second party software to do the job is a solution, it is more of a patch. 

 I keep hearing that I should look at Inventor to see what's coming for Fusion.  Inventor does curved text quite well.

While I don't know who marked this question as solved, any of the board administrators can mark a question as solved. 

In this case I think it should have been marked "solved" was as the question you asked was answered.  Now, if you think having a "text along a curve" would be a good feature for Fusion (which it sounds like you do) I would encourage you to post it in the idea station so that other Fusion users can vote and comment.  The product team reviews that forum frequently when we are planning releases.

The question had responses, but no solution.   Using a second party software to do the job is not a Fusion based solution. 

 If the answer is to the question is, Fusion can't do the job, that's fine, but don't mark the thread as solved.

Its not like they can commit resources and wave a majic wand to make this happen. For me it is very low on a list of priorities. Mark solved is appropriate, then add to feature requests. It isn't going to get solved in this threads lifetime....

Hi Todd, 

My view on this is that the "solved" label is used to point other forum members, who may have the same question, to the answer for your question about curved text without having to scroll through multiple discussions on the topic.  Perhaps "solved" isn't the best wording for the lable but ultimately the answer and information on the current state of the software is at the end of that link - that the information is based on Fusion functionality or not is kind of irrelevant in my opinion.  "Solved" isn't meant to indicate that Fusion can do what you want it to do. I'm all for continued discussion on the subject but as I mentioned before, the best area to start those conversations is in the Idea Station.
