Where can I find a tutorial on the sweep function? I don't understand the reasons it is giving me for not being able to sweep and why it can sweep one time and not the next.

The body created by a Sweep "cannot" intersect itself.  This is probably your issue.  If you want tutorials of a specific topic, just go to YouTube and type in the exact thing you want and you will have a choice of tutorials.

The profile I swept on another part of the project seems to intersect itself, the path radius was tighter than the cross section of the profile, but I can't tell for sure. I'm using sweep to cut if that makes any difference.

Attach the file of the failing feature and let all take a look.  It is hard to determine what you are doing or not doing without the model.

What I am trying to do is sweep sketch named "rear trigger guard" along sketch "28". I keep getting "path is tangent to profile". I don't understand how it is tangent. It doesn't appear to be. The other sweeps seemed similarly constructed. Thank you for the help.

I think that is a misleading error message (need to investigate that).  My guess is that this profile/path combination produces a self-intersecting body at the curve indicated by the arrow, and that is why it fails:

I'll try shortening the legs on the profile and shortening the height of it.

Thanks again. Still making my way through the tutorials on youtube.
