SVG file imports but won't extrude or Push/Pull

I've read most of the post on SVG imports. Can't see why this is not working.

I have a simple outline graphic. A single closed path saved form illustrator as an SVG. It imports OK. I can move, scale etc. I have tried it as an outline path and a filled shape. Same issues happen:

It imports ok as a "fixed/green" outline as expected. But This will not extrude.

When I then unfix, all of the lines appear to be joined together, but I cannot select it as a sketch to extrude.
What am I missing? (tried joining lines with Coincidence but that didn't work)

The first SVG file has a break in the boundary as shown.

I have create a Screencast to show you the method to use on this SVG sketch, or any sketch to find a break(s) in the profile.

I see where the break is.  Since it's an SVG file how do I repair the break to extrude?

You are posting a question to an old forum question.  Are you using the same SVG file or a new one?  If a new one, please attach it.

I was having the same issue and found your answer in the forum.  I found I had the same problem and I would like to learn how to make this file work.  If that is possible?

Thanks

First of all, you should not use an old forum post, especially one that has been checked as solved, to post your question, no one will see it.  I just happened to be online so it flagged me.  If I were not, you probably would never have had a reply.  You SVG is very different from the other one in this question, it is very obvious where the issue is.  I would repair the outside curve and then offset it to make the inside curve.  I am supplying my model but please take your SVG file and do the repair for yourself to learn.   Please mark this answer as another solution if it satisfies your needs.
