Surface appearance changes when I zoom. Bug?

Hi everybody,

long time, I have not asked any questions.

Here is a tricky one IMHO. I have noticed that, all of a sudden the surface appearance of my design (glossy plastic) appears to have brown lines on it. at first, I thought it was a material/surface conflict issue but both are white plastic and here ist comes:

The problem os only present at a certain zoom setting. Effectively, when I zoom in, at some point, the appearance becomes normal as before again.

I have tried recomputing all (CMD B on my Mac).

I have attached two screenshot of the phenomenon. Any thoughts?

Thanks to all of the participants of this great forum.

Best wishes

Oliver

This is possibly a side effect of Fusion 360's LOD (Level of Detail) algorithm that controls how coarse/fine an object has to be tesselated for display in the viewport. Your geometry should be fine.

You can override this by selecting the component/body in the bowser and then right licking on Display Detail Control and set it from the default "Adaptive" to "fixed/high" and see if that makes a change.

Great, this did it.

Thank you very much indeed.

This was even trickling through to the animations.

Best wishes
