Struggling with some basics

Hello,

Im new to the software and am slowly learning but I am struggling with simple things. Right now I have been trying for hours to change the model by only changing the diameter of the largest circle which is currently 25mm. I would like to be able to change the size of just the centre circle and the rest of the body morph around it while keeping the same size  (locking) circles that are currently there If that's not possible then just to be able to make the centre circle change size and the rest morph around it.

I have attached the f3d file for someone to take a look at, please. I only have 10 more days left of the trial before I need to decide on buying the sub.

Cheers

That's really good. How did you enter the values in? The centre hole you made is 30mm but I can now change it to other sizes easily. How can I make it keep the values of the other hole's diameter the same while changing the main one?

Im sorry, I just noticed it doesn't change the size of the other holes which is ok.

Yikes! It’s all blue - not even black circles on the origin!

Parameter changing sketches work really good when they are all black (in your colour scheme).

Creating an Extrude with overlapping profiles, is select as needed - weeding - Select inside each region to build the shape you want.

No wonder the sketch is unstable, if you are trimming regions, then the sketch engine has to redefine lost or new constraints.  Fusion will do its best effort, but does not have AI yet.

Might help.....

But all the dimensions are crushed up in the screenshot attached?

I think this is where I am going wrong. So I take it I don't just trim all the inside bits after making loads of lines etc?

Sketch only as much as you need, masses of lines, create masses of regions.

build on and outwards from the origin.

Your 3 ring solid model can be sketched with two 3 point arcs, and a line.

Then go modelling tools of Thin Extrude, and Mirror.

might help....

Haha, I was an idiot as I just deleted all the lines I did think I would need later onI thought it left lines on the 3D model ...yes I am learning as I go along but followed some lessons today.

I did a new 3D drawing which was just a shelf bracket but for the first time I was able to go back in time to sketch view and change the dimensions which were still there from then I created it.

With simulation, do you have to pay for that on top of the sub? I'm just in the trial at the moment and don't think I would be missing much going to the basics till I get better. I don't mind paying for it, its less than a meal out for two easily nowadays!

Go back and check my last message, was edited while you were typing.

I don’t use or comment on simulation.

Thank you for that, I will try that now as it seams way simpler than my way!
